Our journey begins with departure from Kalamata, while participants traveling from Athens will meet at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. Our Sky Express flight departs early in the morning at 07:00, and in just 1.5 hours, at 08:30, we arrive at Istanbul Airport. From the very moment we set foot in the City, a unique experience begins.

We transfer by luxury coach to the historic center, where our first introduction to Constantinople unfolds through some of the most sacred and spiritually significant sites of modern Hellenism.

Our first stop is the Life-Giving Spring of Balıklı, one of the most moving pilgrimage sites of the Greek Orthodox world. There, we will explore the history of the holy spring, the legend of the “revived fish,” and the miraculous presence of the Virgin Mary, which remains alive in the hearts of the faithful. The atmosphere is one of serenity and deep devotion. Along the way, we will also see the imposing Theodosian Walls—the defensive marvel that protected the Queen of Cities for centuries and still stand today as silent witnesses to its history.

We then visit the Chora Monastery, one of the most important monuments of Byzantine art, renowned for its exquisite mosaics and frescoes that beautifully capture the theological and artistic brilliance of Byzantium.

Our journey continues to the Church of Blachernae, a historic shrine closely associated with the protection of the City and the Akathist Hymn. We will reflect on the miraculous events linked to the Virgin Mary and the profound symbolism of this sacred site.

Next, we arrive at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fener, the enduring spiritual center of Orthodoxy. We will visit the Church of St. George, where we will see the venerable throne of the Ecumenical Patriarch, sacred relics of saints, and experience the deep spirituality of a place that has stood for centuries as a symbol of faith, unity, and historical continuity of Hellenism.

Afterwards, we proceed with check-in at the hotel and enjoy some time to rest.

In the afternoon, we take a walking tour in the Pera (Beyoğlu) district, one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan areas of the City. We will stroll through streets rich in history, lined with elegant mansions, historic European-style buildings, shops, and cafés—experiencing the lively pulse of modern Constantinople, where East and West blend in a truly unique way.

On the second day, we dedicate ourselves to exploring the heart of the Old City. Our guided tour begins at Topkapı Palace, the historic residence of the Ottoman Sultans in Constantinople. Built in the 15th century by Mehmed II the Conqueror, it served as the administrative and political center of the Ottoman Empire for nearly 400 years. Today, it operates as a museum and impresses visitors with its grand courtyards, the Harem, the imperial treasury, and breathtaking views over the Bosphorus.

Our tour continues with Hagia Sophia, an unsurpassed architectural masterpiece that has stood proudly through the centuries. A symbol of faith, power, and the coexistence of cultures, where Byzantine artistry meets Islamic grandeur. We then proceed to the Blue Mosque, with its six minarets and countless blue tiles adorning its interior. The magnificence of the space and the sacred atmosphere are truly captivating.

We stroll through the Byzantine Hippodrome, where chariot races once took place, as the Obelisks and the Serpent Column transport us back through the centuries. We then visit the Underground Byzantine Cistern—a silent realm of water and stone that enchants visitors with its mysterious ambiance.

The day concludes with a visit to the Covered Market, the famous Grand Bazaar, where we wander through a labyrinth of colors, aromas, and sounds. Spices, carpets, gold jewelry, leather goods, and authentic Turkish products create an unforgettable setting for every visitor.

On the third day, we leave behind the vibrant urban landscape of Constantinople and set out on a unique excursion to the enchanting Princes’ Islands—a world where time flows more slowly and the atmosphere evokes a bygone era.

We board a boat and cross the tranquil waters of the Sea of Marmara, enjoying views of the City from a different perspective, until we arrive at Halki (Heybeliada), an island deeply connected to the history of Hellenism and Orthodoxy. There, we visit the historic Halki Theological School, built on the Hill of Hope—a place-symbol of spirituality, knowledge, and historical memory. From this vantage point, the panoramic view over the Sea of Marmara is breathtaking, offering moments of reflection and quiet emotion.

Halki, serene and peaceful, radiates a profound sense of spiritual and human warmth, ideal for a leisurely walk through its natural surroundings and charming streets before our return to the City.

We then continue to Prinkipo (Büyükada), the largest and most renowned of the islands. Here, time seems to stand still. There are no cars, and transportation is by bicycle or electric vehicles, creating an atmosphere of calm and romance.

Walking among elegant old wooden mansions, blooming gardens, pine forests, and quiet streets, we experience the nostalgia of a Constantinople of another era. Free time to enjoy a seaside meal, a coffee in picturesque cafés, and moments of relaxation in a setting that feels almost dreamlike and poetic.

A day devoted to nature, memory, tranquility, and the sea breeze—offering a refreshing pause and a sense of inner renewal within our journey through Constantinople.

The fourth day is dedicated to the Asian side of Constantinople, offering a different and more authentic perspective on the City’s “other” face.

We begin with a private Bosphorus cruise, accompanied by a Greek-speaking guide, enjoying from the deck the palaces, elegant waterfront mansions (yalıs), and the bridges that connect two continents. This scenic journey offers truly unique views and brings us to the Asian shore, where we disembark and continue our exploration by coach.

Our first stop is Kuzguncuk, one of the most charming and authentic neighborhoods of Asian Constantinople. With its colorful wooden houses, quiet streets, and strong sense of multicultural heritage, Kuzguncuk evokes the atmosphere of an old-era City where different religions and communities once coexisted harmoniously. A walk here feels like a journey back in time.

We then continue to Üsküdar, one of the oldest and most historic districts of Constantinople. Overlooking the Bosphorus and the European shore, Üsküdar blends its deep historical identity with the vibrancy of modern life. We will explore its landmark sites and experience the pulse of a district that for centuries served as a gateway between East and West.

Our journey proceeds to Chalcedon (Kadıköy), the modern heart of the Asian side and a place of great historical and religious significance, as it stands on the site of ancient Chalcedon. The area is full of life, with bustling markets, cafés, small shops, and culinary delights that reflect the everyday rhythm of local life.

In Kadıköy, we will visit the Church of Saint Euphemia, one of the most important figures of early Christianity. Her memory and martyrdom are closely linked to the Fourth Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon, a pivotal event in the history of Orthodoxy that lends the site profound spiritual significance.

The day concludes with images, aromas, and experiences from a side of Constantinople that is calmer, more intimate, and deeply authentic—perfectly completing the rich mosaic of our journey.

After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our return flight. We depart filled with vivid images, emotions, and unforgettable experiences. Constantinople is not merely a destination—it is a living experience. A journey through time, culture, and the very soul of Hellenism and the East.
